Shashi Lodge

Historic House · Mymensingh, Mymensingh

The showpiece of Mymensingh's zamindar-era old town: a colonnaded early-twentieth-century mansion of the Muktagachha raj line, rebuilt in its present form after the 1897 earthquake wrecked its predecessor, and famous for the marble Venus fountain in its forecourt - an image every Bangladeshi schoolbook seems to carry. Restored by the Department of Archaeology and reopened to visitors (arrangements recalled as museum-style, UNVERIFIED), the lodge anchors a walkable old-town cluster of rajbari architecture, the Brahmaputra riverfront and the Botanical Garden of the agricultural university - reason enough to give Mymensingh division its first row.

Shashi Lodge Road, Mymensingh, Mymensingh, Bangladesh

Recalled as open on Department of Archaeology museum-pattern days and hours following restoration - specifics UNVERIFIED for 2026 and worth confirming before a dedicated trip; the forecourt and facade reward even a closed-day visit. The surrounding old town, riverfront and gardens keep ordinary town hours.
