Silent Wings Museum

Specialty Museum · Lubbock, Texas

A museum in a 1950s airport terminal in Lubbock devoted entirely to the American military glider programme of the Second World War — engineless plywood and canvas aircraft towed behind transports and released over Normandy, Holland and the Rhine, carrying troops who had no way of going round again if the landing went wrong.

6202 North Interstate 27, Lubbock, Texas, 79403, United States

⚠ HOURS AND ADMISSION ARE NOT STATED HERE — I could not verify them. Check with the museum or the City of Lubbock before travelling; museums of this size commonly close one or two days a week. ⚠ Ask about military and veteran rates, which a museum on this subject almost certainly offers and will not volunteer. Housed in a 1950s airport terminal beside the working airport.
