Silver Falls State Park
Subnational Park · Silverton, Oregon
The largest state park in Oregon at over 9,000 acres, in the Cascade foothills east of Salem, built around a canyon holding ten waterfalls. The Trail of Ten Falls runs 7.2 miles along the creeks and passes behind the curtain of four of them - South Falls at 177 feet is the one people photograph from inside the alcove. Much of the infrastructure is Civilian Conservation Corps work from the 1930s, and the park was very nearly a national park instead.
