Silver Mountain Resort

Ski Resort · Kellogg, Idaho

A ski area above the old mining town of Kellogg reached by the longest single-stage gondola ride in the world - 3.1 miles and about 3,400 feet of climb in something close to twenty minutes, from a base station in the middle of town. Longer gondola systems exist and they either use angle stations or do not carry passengers, which is the qualifier that makes the record true. The resort also runs Silver Rapids, the largest indoor waterpark in Idaho, which is why it works in July as well as February.

⚠ SEASONAL, AND IN TWO SEPARATE SEASONS WITH A GAP BETWEEN THEM. The gondola and the mountain run a WINTER SKI SEASON of roughly late November to early April and a SHORTER SUMMER SEASON of roughly late June to early September for scenic rides, biking and hiking - and the gondola does NOT turn in the spring and autumn gaps, which is the most common disappointment here. SILVER RAPIDS INDOOR WATERPARK RUNS YEAR ROUND. Gondola tickets, lift tickets and waterpark admission are three separate purchases, though Morning Star Lodge bookings generally include the waterpark. CHECK THE OPERATING CALENDAR BEFORE TRAVELLING - it does not run every day at the shoulders. The base is at street level in Kellogg, off I-90 Exit 49, with free parking.
