Six Flags Great America

Theme Park · Gurnee, Illinois

A three-hundred-acre theme park at Gurnee, roughly halfway between Chicago and Milwaukee, opened in 1976 as Marriott's Great America and run by Six Flags since 1984. It is a coaster park above everything else — a dozen or more of them, including a record-setting wooden hybrid and the first inverted coaster ever built — with a water park attached and a double-decker carousel at the centre that has been turning since opening day.
