Six Flags Over Georgia
Theme Park · Austell, Georgia
The second park the Six Flags chain ever built, opened in 1967 six years after the Texas original, on wooded ground west of Atlanta at Austell. It is a coaster park first — around ten of them, including one of the earliest modern looping coasters still running and a steel-on-wood hybrid rebuilt from an older woodie. The site is hilly and heavily treed, which is the main thing separating it from the flat asphalt of most regional parks.
