Six Flags Over Texas

The original Six Flags, opened in Arlington in 1961 and the park that gave the chain its name — six themed sections for the six nations whose flags have flown over Texas. It effectively invented the modern regional theme park, and still runs a dense coaster line-up on a compact, heavily shaded site between Dallas and Fort Worth.
