Slide Rock State Park
Arizona State Park; Pendley Homestead Historic District · Sedona, Arizona
A state park in Oak Creek Canyon about seven miles north of Sedona, built around a natural water slide: a smooth sandstone chute about 80 feet long, slick with algae, that carries swimmers down Oak Creek between red rock walls. The park sits on the old Pendley homestead, where Frank Pendley farmed apples from the early 1900s; the orchards, a 1912 irrigation flume and farm buildings are listed as a historic district. On summer days the creek fills with families sliding, wading and jumping into pools, and the car park fills by mid-morning. In 2026 the fee was $30 per vehicle for 1-4 adults from May to 21 August and $20 the rest of the year. The water is cold, the rock is very slippery, and swimming closes when bacteria tests fail.
