Snoqualmie Falls

Waterfall · Snoqualmie, Washington

A 268-foot waterfall on the Snoqualmie River half an hour east of Seattle, taller than Niagara and among the most visited scenic attractions in Washington at over 1.5 million people a year. It is known well beyond the region because it opened every episode of Twin Peaks, with the Salish Lodge standing in for the Great Northern Hotel. It is also a working hydroelectric site - Puget Sound Energy has generated power here since 1899 from a plant built inside the rock behind the falls.

6501 Railroad Avenue SE, Snoqualmie, Washington, 98065, United States

The upper park and overlook are open daily, generally dawn to dusk, and are free. The lower trail and river boardwalk keep the same hours and close in ice or storm damage. Parking in the upper lot is free but limited; an overflow lot across the road connects by a pedestrian bridge. The Salish Lodge above the falls operates independently.
