Snowy Range Scenic Byway

National Forest Scenic Byway — Medicine Bow National Forest · Centennial, Wyoming

Wyoming Highway 130 across the Medicine Bow Mountains west of Laramie, climbing from Centennial to Snowy Range Pass at 10,847 feet and down towards Saratoga. Its signature view is Lake Marie at the foot of the pale quartzite ridge of Medicine Bow Peak, 12,013 feet, and the road passes a chain of alpine lakes, the Libby Flats viewpoint and wide subalpine meadows. It is a summer road: gates close the high section from about mid-November until around Memorial Day. Colorado's Front Range is about two hours away, and many visitors come from there. The road climbs from the sagebrush of the Laramie Plains into subalpine forest, then drops to the North Platte valley at Saratoga.
