South Cumberland State Park

Tennessee State Park · Monteagle, Tennessee

Not one park but eight scattered tracts across the southern Cumberland Plateau, held together by twelve trailheads and a visitor centre on US-41 at Monteagle. It holds the Great Stone Door, a natural cleft in the escarpment wide enough to walk down through; Foster Falls, a 60-foot drop with a climbing crag beside it; and the Fiery Gizzard, which national hiking press has repeatedly put on its lists of the best trails in the country. Savage Gulf was separated out as its own state park in 2023.
