St. Augustine Historic District

Old Town · St. Augustine, Florida

The oldest continuously occupied European-established settlement in the continental United States, founded by the Spanish in 1565 — forty-two years before Jamestown and fifty-five before Plymouth. The old quarter is a compact grid of narrow streets, coquina walls and balconied houses, anchored by the Castillo de San Marcos and by two extraordinary Gilded Age hotels Henry Flagler built when he decided Florida should have tourists.

St. George Street, St. Augustine, Florida, 32084, United States

A public town, open always. Individual museums, the Castillo and Flagler College keep their own hours.
