Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center

Specialty Museum · Chantilly, Virginia

The other half of the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum, out by Dulles Airport, opened in 2003 to hold the aircraft and spacecraft that will not fit on the National Mall. Two hangars — one ten storeys high and the length of three football pitches — hold the Space Shuttle Discovery, the Enola Gay, an SR-71 Blackbird and a Concorde, whole and on the floor rather than hung from a ceiling, and admission is free.

14390 Air and Space Museum Parkway, Chantilly, Virginia, 20151, United States

Open daily 10 AM - 5:30 PM. Closed 25 December. Admission free; parking charged during the day and free after 4 PM.
