Story Land
Family Theme Park For Young Children, Opened In 1954 In Glen At The Foot Of The White Mountains, With Storybook And Fairy Tale Themed Rides. · Glen, New Hampshire
A family theme park for young children in Glen, in the Mount Washington Valley at the foot of the White Mountains, open since 1954 and still built around the idea that made it: fairy tales and nursery rhymes you can walk into and ride. It began as a small storybook village with a few figures and a pumpkin coach, and grew into a leafy park of gentle rides, storybook houses, water rides and a couple of family roller coasters, all scaled for children of roughly two to ten. There are no big thrill rides; the point is that a toddler can ride almost everything, often with a parent beside them, and that older children can take their first coaster or log flume. Shaded paths, small lines by big-park standards and a calm pace make it a rite of passage for New England families. The season runs from late spring weekends through daily summer operation to autumn weekends. North Conway is about 6 miles south and the Mount Washington Auto Road about 15 miles north, so most families pair it with a White Mountains trip.

Story Land is seasonal. It typically opens on weekends from about mid or late May, runs daily from around mid-June to Labor Day, and then returns to weekends only through September and into early October (confirm the calendar each year). Daily hours are daytime, roughly mid-morning to late afternoon or early evening, longer at the height of summer. Water rides may close early on cool days, and some rides pause during thunderstorms and lightning. The park is closed from mid-October to May. Check the calendar for your date before driving, since many days in spring and autumn are closed.
