Strasburg Rail Road

Industrial Heritage · Ronks, Pennsylvania

A short line chartered in 1832 that has been running ever since, which makes it the oldest continuously operating railroad in the United States. It survived by hauling freight for the farms it runs through and then, from 1958, by hauling passengers behind steam, and it now runs restored nineteenth-century locomotives on a four-and-a-half-mile route east from Strasburg through working Amish farmland to Paradise. Across the road is the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania, which holds one of the largest collections of historic American locomotives anywhere.

301 Gap Road, Ronks, Pennsylvania, 17572, United States
