Sugarloaf Provincial Park
A Hill Park Above Campbellton And The Restigouche Valley With A Mountain Biking Network, A Chairlift In Summer, A Ski Area In Winter, Forest Trails And Views Over Chaleur Bay. A Popular Year Round Recreation Park In Northern New Brunswick · Campbellton, New Brunswick
Sugarloaf Provincial Park rises above the city of Campbellton in northern New Brunswick, where the Restigouche River widens toward Chaleur Bay and Quebec lies on the far bank. The park centres on Sugarloaf, a steep, forested hill of roughly 300 metres (confirm the height), with a summit lookout that gives wide views of the river, the Gaspe hills and the town below. A network of walking and mountain-biking trails climbs and loops through the woods, and in winter the hill becomes a small ski and snow-tubing area. A campground and day-use grounds sit at the foot, within a few minutes of the downtown. Campbellton is known as the Salmon Capital, and the park is a convenient way to see the Restigouche valley in an hour or a day. It suits families, cyclists and road travellers crossing between Quebec and New Brunswick. The summit view takes in two provinces, and the town offers cafes, motels and fuel minutes from the gate.

The park is open all year, but its services are seasonal. Summer facilities, such as the chairlift or zipline, the campground and the canteen, normally run from about late May or June to early autumn, and winter facilities such as the ski slopes and tubing run only when snow allows, so confirm days and times on the park website or by phone. Trails on the hill are open at any hour in daylight, but the gate and parking area may be locked at night. Hours shorten in spring and autumn, and weekday service can be limited outside July and August. Check conditions before driving up on a wet or icy day.
