Sun Lakes-Dry Falls State Park

Subnational Park · Coulee City, Washington

A park at the foot of the largest known waterfall ever to have existed on Earth. Dry Falls is a 3.5-mile-wide, 400-foot-high scalloped cliff over which the Missoula Floods poured at the end of the last ice age, moving at around sixty-five miles an hour and carrying more water than every river on the planet combined. For comparison, Niagara is about a mile across and 165 feet high. The water stopped roughly thirteen thousand years ago and left the cliff standing dry.

34875 Park Lake Road NE, Coulee City, Washington, 99115, United States

Park and campground open year round, with reduced services in winter. The Dry Falls Visitor Center on State Route 17 above the cataract keeps seasonal hours, generally spring to autumn and often only Thursday to Sunday - CHECK BEFORE TRAVELLING, because the overlook is the reason to come and the centre is where the interpretation is. A Discover Pass is required to park.
