Sutter Creek
Old Town · Sutter Creek, California
Called the Jewel of the Mother Lode, and the balconied Main Street is why — a continuous run of 1850s and 1860s frontages with overhanging wooden galleries, largely unaltered. It holds the Knight Foundry, the last water-powered foundry in the United States, and sits in the middle of Amador County's wine country.
