Talladega Superspeedway
Racing Circuit · Lincoln, Alabama
The longest and fastest oval in NASCAR, opened in 1969 on a former airfield between Birmingham and Atlanta — 2.66 miles of asphalt with thirty-three degrees of banking in the turns, steep enough that you cannot walk up it. The speeds it produces are high enough that the cars are restricted, which forces them to run in enormous packs inches apart, which is why Talladega finishes are the ones people remember and why the multi-car wreck has its own nickname here. The infield on race weekend is an event in its own right and has been for half a century.
3366 Speedway Boulevard, Lincoln, Alabama, 35096, United States
Not a year-round visitor attraction. Two NASCAR Cup race weekends a year, spring and autumn, plus scheduled driving and ride-along experience dates. Outside those, the facility is closed to general visitors — check the speedway calendar before travelling.
