The Andy Warhol Museum

Art Museum · Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

Seven floors of a converted 1911 warehouse on Pittsburgh's North Shore holding the largest collection of a single artist's work anywhere in North America — several thousand paintings, prints, drawings, films and sculptures by Andy Warhol, who was born and buried a few miles away and spent his career pretending he was from nowhere in particular. It opened in 1994 and it is arranged chronologically from the top down, so you take the lift to the seventh floor and descend through his life. The archive in the basement includes the Time Capsules, six hundred and ten cardboard boxes into which Warhol swept the contents of his desk.

117 Sandusky Street, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, 15212, United States

Open most days, generally 10 AM to 5 PM with a late opening on Friday evenings at half price, and CLOSED at least one weekday — verify before travelling. Closed on major holidays. Part of the Carnegie Museums; a combination ticket covers all four.
