The Museum of Flight

Specialty Museum · Seattle, Washington

The largest private air and space museum in the world, on the southern edge of Boeing Field where Boeing has been building aircraft since 1916. It grew out of a volunteer preservation group founded in 1965 and is now a collection you can walk through rather than only look at: the first jet Air Force One, a Concorde, the prototype 747, and the original 1909 Boeing factory building moved here and rebuilt. It sits fifteen minutes south of downtown and takes most of a day.

9404 East Marginal Way South, Seattle, Washington, 98108, United States

Open daily, generally 10 AM - 5 PM, with the outdoor Aviation Pavilion aircraft walkthroughs closing earlier and in bad weather. Closed Thanksgiving and Christmas Day. Parking is free. Admission has long been free on the first Thursday evening of each month, roughly 5 PM - 9 PM, but confirm on the museum website before planning around it.
