The Old Mill
A 1933 Replica Of A Nineteenth Century Water Powered Grist Mill In T. R. Pugh Memorial Park, North Little Rock, Listed On The National Register Of Historic Places. It Appears In The Opening Sequence Of Gone With The Wind (1939) And Is Said To Be The Only Structure From The Film Still Standing. · North Little Rock, Arkansas
The Old Mill is not an old mill. It was built in 1933 as a deliberately convincing replica of a nineteenth-century grist mill, complete with artificially aged concrete made to look like weathered timber by a Mexican sculptor, Dionicio Rodriguez, whose faux-bois work is the real reason to look closely. Six years later it appeared in the opening sequence of Gone with the Wind, and it is generally said to be the only structure from that film still standing. It sits in a small park with a millpond, a wheel, stone bridges and heavy planting, it is free, it takes twenty minutes, and it is photographed for weddings more or less continuously.

The park is open daily during daylight hours and admission is free. There is no visitor centre, no staffing and no ticketing. The site is small and is frequently in use for wedding and portrait photography, particularly at weekends and in spring, which does not close it but does crowd it. Parking is on the street around the park.
