The Skyscraper Museum

Specialty Museum · New York, New York

A small museum devoted entirely to the TALL BUILDING — its engineering, its economics and its consequences — founded 1996 and in a permanent home at Battery Park City since 2004, in a single gallery with a mirror-polished stainless steel floor and ceiling designed by Roger Duffy of SOM so that the room itself appears vertically infinite.

⚠ CHECK THE OPENING DAYS BEFORE TRAVELLING — it is a small institution with limited hours and is NOT open every day. ⚠ IT IS ONE GALLERY and the temporary exhibition is effectively the whole museum, so check what is currently showing as well as when it is open. Admission is among the lowest of any Manhattan museum. ⚠ THE FREE ONLINE ARCHIVE at skyscraper.org is substantial and is the alternative if you cannot get there. ⚠ It is fifty metres from the Museum of Jewish Heritage on the same block. ⚠ HOURS AND PRICES NOT VERIFIED FOR THIS FILE.
