The STRAT Tower
Observation Tower Of The STRAT Hotel, Casino And Tower; Often Described As The Tallest Freestanding Observation Tower In The United States, About 1,149 Feet · Las Vegas, Nevada
The STRAT Tower is the needle-shaped observation tower of The STRAT Hotel, Casino and Tower at the north end of the Las Vegas Strip, and at about 1,149 feet it is often described as the tallest freestanding observation tower in the United States. It opened in 1996 as the Stratosphere and was renamed The STRAT in 2020. Fast double-deck elevators carry visitors to a pod near the top with an indoor observation deck behind glass and an outdoor deck open to the wind, and the views run the whole length of the Strip, over downtown and out to the mountains ringing the valley. The tower is also famous for what happens above the decks: thrill rides that launch riders up the mast or swing them out over the edge, and SkyJump, a controlled descent jump from the top on a guided wire. A revolving restaurant and a bar complete the pod. It is the best place in the city to see the whole Strip lit up at night, but it sits in a grittier stretch between the Strip and downtown, rides close in high wind, and everything at the top has its own ticket.

NO OPENING TIME HERE WAS CHECKED. The typical pattern: the observation decks are open daily from around 10 or 11 am until late at night, often past midnight on weekends; the thrill rides keep similar hours but open later on some days and close whenever wind or lightning pass safety limits; SkyJump runs set jump times and cancels in bad weather; the revolving restaurant serves dinner in the evening; the hotel and casino are open 24 hours. The traps that ruin a day are arriving at sunset into a long security queue, buying a ride combo on a windy afternoon when the rides are closed, walking up from the central Strip in heat or at night, and expecting a walk-in window table at sunset.
