Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library

History Museum · Medora, North Dakota

A privately built museum on the bluff above Medora, opened on 4 July 2026, dedicated to the man whose politics were formed in the badlands below it. It is not one of the sixteen federal presidential libraries and holds none of Roosevelt's official papers, which are at the Library of Congress; what it has instead is the landscape. The building is set into the hillside with a roof you can walk over, and its windows look out at the country Roosevelt ranched in the 1880s.

3410 Chateau Road, Medora, North Dakota, 58645, United States

Open most of the year with a seasonal pattern, fullest in summer and reduced from late autumn through winter, and generally closed one or two days a week outside the peak season. ⚠ THE MUSEUM ONLY OPENED ON 4 JULY 2026 and its hours, prices and programme are still settling into an annual shape - check its own page the week you travel rather than trusting anything published earlier. Timed tickets are sold online. The grounds, the prairie paths and the walkable roof terrace are free.
