Third Street Promenade

Three pedestrianised blocks of Third Street in downtown Santa Monica, two blocks from the pier and the beach. It has been closed to cars since the 1960s and rebuilt in 1989, and its real character comes from the street performers, who are licensed, auditioned and considerably better than the buskers most cities get.
