Trinity Church and Churchyard
Church · New York, New York
The Gothic Revival church of 1846 at the head of Wall Street — the third on the site, the parish chartered in 1697 — whose 281-foot spire was THE TALLEST STRUCTURE IN NEW YORK CITY FOR FIFTY YEARS. Its churchyard holds ALEXANDER HAMILTON, his wife Eliza, Robert Fulton and Albert Gallatin, and the graves are older than the building: the oldest legible stone dates from 1681, before the parish existed.
