Tulsa Zoo
Tulsa'S Municipal Zoo In Mohawk Park; Founded 1927 · Tulsa, Oklahoma
Tulsa's zoo, set inside Mohawk Park, one of the largest municipal parks in the United States, and home to around 1,500 animals across 85 acres. It runs on immersive regional exhibits rather than rows of cages: the Lost Kingdom holds Malayan tigers, snow leopards and Komodo dragons along a stepped Asian trail, the Chimpanzee Connection gives its troop a forested yard with climbing frames, African Plains carries giraffes, rhinos and lions, and the Robert J. LaFortune WildLIFE Trek moves through desert, forest and tundra halls with polar bear and penguin viewing. The Helmerich Sea Lion Cove has underwater windows, the Mary K. Chapman Rhino Reserve opened for its black rhinos, and the children's Elephant Experience and Conservation Center added a large elephant barn and yard. A train, carousel and camel rides cost extra.
