Tunica

Casino Strip · Tunica Resorts, Mississippi

A casino strip in the cotton fields of the north Delta, half an hour south of Memphis on Highway 61. Gaming arrived in 1992 in what was then one of the poorest counties in the United States, and for a decade Tunica was among the largest casino markets in the country. It has contracted sharply since — several houses have closed as Arkansas and other states opened their own — and what remains is a smaller strip of working casinos with cheap rooms, a golf industry, and the Gateway to the Blues museum in the old railway depot on the highway.

Casino Strip Resort Boulevard, Tunica Resorts, Mississippi, 38664, United States

Casinos operate around the clock, year round; gaming floors are 21 and over. Hotels, restaurants and golf courses keep their own hours. The Gateway to the Blues Museum on Highway 61 keeps daytime hours with a reduced week in winter. The strip has contracted since around 2010 and individual properties have closed — verify that a specific casino or restaurant is still trading before planning around it.
