Tunnels of Moose Jaw
Privately Operated Heritage Attraction · Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan
A network of passages and basements beneath downtown Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, ⚠ BROUGHT TO LIFE BY TWO THEATRICAL TOURS IN WHICH COSTUMED ACTORS LEAD SMALL GROUPS THROUGH THE CITY'S HIDDEN HISTORY. Passage to Fortune tells the story of Chinese immigrants who arrived to build the railway and faced the head tax and discrimination, with the tunnels portrayed as places where they worked and hid. The Chicago Connection plunges into the Prohibition era, when bootleggers used Moose Jaw's rail links to run liquor south to the United States, and local legend says Al Capone visited - a claim historians have never proven. Above ground, Moose Jaw has historic murals, the Temple Gardens mineral spa and Mac the Moose, a giant roadside statue. ⚠ TOURS ARE BY TIME SLOT AND SELL OUT ON SUMMER WEEKENDS; SPACES ARE TIGHT, DIM AND INCLUDE STAIRS.
