TusenFryd
Norway'S Largest Amusement Park, With The Wooden Coaster Thunder Coaster And The BadeFryd Water Park In Summer · Vinterbro, Akershus
TusenFryd is Norway's largest amusement park, opened in 1988 on a wooded hillside at Vinterbro beside the E6, about 20 km south of central Oslo. The name is the Norwegian word for the common daisy and is often read as a thousand delights. Its signature ride is ThunderCoaster, a wooden roller coaster that towers over the park, joined by the launched coaster SpeedMonster, the water coaster SuperSplash, the old looping coaster Loopen, drop towers, a river rapids ride and a large area of gentler rides for small children. In summer the BadeFryd water park, with pools and slides, is usually included in the day ticket. People come because it is the one big thrill park within easy reach of Oslo: school classes, families in the Norwegian summer holiday and teenagers on a day out. The honest caveat: it is a regional park, not a Tivoli or a European mega-park. Tickets and food are expensive, queues for the headline rides get long on July weekends, and it is closed for much of the year, opening for a summer season and shorter autumn events such as Halloween - confirm the dates.
