Ulubey Canyon is a long gorge cut by the Banaz River through the limestone plateau of western Anatolia, near the town of Ulubey in Usak province, roughly 45 km south-west of the city of Usak (confirm). The canyon runs for something like 20 km and falls up to about 100 m below the rim, with pale vertical walls, ledges, small caves and a thin green ribbon of river at the bottom (confirm figures). It is a quiet inland landscape, far from the coast and the main tourist routes, and most visitors come by car for a few hours from Usak, Denizli or Izmir. The usual stop is the viewpoint on the rim, where a platform with a glass section extends over the drop and gives a straight look down into the gorge (confirm the terrace and its fee). Beyond it a few paths follow the rim, and a rough route leads down the walls toward the water. Facilities are simple: parking, a kiosk or cafe at busy times and restrooms. Spring and autumn are best, summer is hot and bright, and winter brings cold wind and sometimes snow.

Ulubey Canyon has no gate on the open rim and can be seen in daylight all year, but the glass terrace, the kiosk and the restrooms keep their own hours, usually daytime and longest from May to September, with shorter or no service in winter (confirm). The terrace may close in strong wind, ice or snow, and during repairs. Leave the rim by dusk, since the paths have no lighting and mobile signal is patchy. Confirm the terrace opening, any fee and the state of the road before making the drive from Usak.
