Umpqua National Forest

National Forest · Roseburg, Oregon

About 984,000 acres on the western slope of the Cascades between Eugene and Crater Lake, and the forest that the North Umpqua River runs through. That river is the point: a Wild and Scenic stretch famous among fly fishermen for wild summer steelhead, running green over bedrock past a string of waterfalls, with the 79-mile North Umpqua Trail alongside it. Toketee, Watson and Susan Creek falls are all within a few miles of the highway, as are several undeveloped hot springs.
