USS Constitution
National Historic Landmark; Boston National Historical Park · Boston, Massachusetts
A three-masted frigate launched in Boston in 1797, one of the first six ships of the United States Navy, and the oldest commissioned warship afloat anywhere in the world. She earned the name Old Ironsides in 1812 when British shot was seen bouncing off her live-oak hull, and she is still a commissioned US Navy vessel with an active-duty crew who give the tours themselves. She lies at the Charlestown Navy Yard at the far end of the Freedom Trail, and going aboard is free.
