Valleyfair

Amusement Park · Shakopee, Minnesota

Minnesota's amusement park, on a hundred and twenty-five acres beside the Minnesota River at Shakopee, opened in 1976 and run by Cedar Fair since 1978. It is a coaster park first — around eight of them, including Wild Thing, a 207-foot hypercoaster that was briefly among the tallest in the world when it opened in 1996, and Renegade, a wooden coaster consistently rated among the better ones in the country. Soak City, the water park, is included with admission rather than sold separately, which is the fact most first-time visitors miss.
