Vasquez Rocks
Rock Formation · Agua Dulce, California
Slabs of sandstone tilted to nearly forty-five degrees by the San Andreas Fault, forty minutes from Los Angeles and instantly recognisable from a thousand productions — most famously as the place Captain Kirk fought the Gorn. It is named for Tiburcio Vásquez, the bandit who used the rocks to evade a posse in 1874.
