Virginia Air and Space Science Center

Science Museum · Hampton, Virginia

The official visitor centre for NASA Langley Research Center and for Langley Air Force Base, in a glass-fronted hall on the Hampton waterfront with aircraft hung above the floor. Langley is where the Mercury Seven trained, where the Lunar Landing Research Facility still stands, and where Katherine Johnson, Dorothy Vaughan and Mary Jackson did the computing — and the centre holds the Apollo 12 command module that came back from the moon.

600 Settlers Landing Road, Hampton, Virginia, 23669, United States

Generally 10 AM - 5 PM with shorter Sunday hours and some seasonal Monday closures. The giant-screen theatre runs its own schedule. NASA Langley itself is a working research centre and is not open to visitors.
