Vista House
Historic Site · Corbett, Oregon
An octagonal stone building on Crown Point, standing 733 feet above the Columbia River on the south side of the Gorge. Edgar M. Lazarus designed it in an Art Nouveau style and it was completed in 1918 after nearly two years of construction, serving three purposes at once: a memorial to Oregon pioneers, a comfort station for travellers on the Historic Columbia River Highway, and a viewpoint. It is still all three, and the view is why anyone stops.
