Historic House · Miami, Florida
An Italian Renaissance villa built on Biscayne Bay between 1914 and 1922 for James Deering of International Harvester, filled with European furniture and architectural fragments he bought by the shipload, and set in ten acres of formal gardens cut out of native hammock. A carved stone barge sits offshore as a breakwater, which is the detail that tells you what kind of project this was.
