War Eagle Mill
A Working Undershot Water Powered Grist Mill On The War Eagle River, The Fourth Mill On The Site Since 1832 And One Of Very Few Working Water Powered Mills Left In The United States. Beside It Stands A 1907 Single Lane Iron Bridge. · Rogers, Arkansas
There has been a mill on this bend of the War Eagle River since 1832; the first three burned, washed away or were destroyed in the Civil War, and the present one was built in 1973 to the old pattern. It works. The undershot wheel turns, the stones grind, and the flour and cornmeal sold in the shop upstairs were milled underneath it, which makes this one of very few genuinely working water-powered mills left in the country. A single-lane iron bridge from 1907 crosses the river beside it. Twice a year the fields around fill for the War Eagle craft fair, one of the largest in the mid-South, and for those weekends the roads in are solid.

Open daily on daytime hours through most of the year with reduced winter days, and closure on major holidays; the restaurant upstairs keeps shorter hours than the shop. Entry to the mill and the grounds is free. THE WAR EAGLE CRAFT FAIR runs for several days in October, with a smaller spring event, and during those the surrounding roads are congested for miles and normal visiting is effectively impossible.
