Watkins Glen International

Racing Circuit · Watkins Glen, New York

A 3.4-mile road course in the hills above Seneca Lake, built in 1956 after racing on the public streets of Watkins Glen village became untenable following a spectator death. It held the FORMULA ONE UNITED STATES GRAND PRIX from 1961 to 1980 and is one of the few American circuits drivers describe with genuine affection — fast, undulating, and unforgiving in a way modern circuits are not.

2790 County Route 16, Watkins Glen, New York, 14891, United States

⚠ SEASONAL AND EVENT-DRIVEN. The racing season runs roughly April to October; outside event days and published Drive-the-Glen days the facility is largely closed to visitors. ⚠ THIS IS THE RACE CIRCUIT, NOT WATKINS GLEN STATE PARK — the gorge is four miles away in the village and is a different place entirely. ⚠ SCHEDULES AND PRICES WERE NOT VERIFIED FOR THIS FILE — confirm on theglen.com.
