Historic Site · Highland Falls, New York

The United States Military Academy, founded 1802 on a bend in the Hudson that George Washington considered the most strategically important position in America — a great iron chain was stretched across the river here to stop British ships. It is the oldest continuously occupied military post in the United States, a National Historic Landmark, and an ACTIVE INSTALLATION where four thousand cadets live and study, which governs absolutely everything about visiting.
