Westin Bonaventure Hotel
Modern Architecture · Los Angeles, California
John Portman's 1976 hotel in downtown Los Angeles — five mirrored glass cylinders around a concrete atrium, with glass lifts running up the outside of the towers. It is the building critics used for decades as the example of postmodern disorientation, and it is also a hotel anyone can walk into and ride to the top of for nothing.
404 South Figueroa Street, Los Angeles, California, 90071, United States
Atrium and lifts open at all hours, free. Revolving lounge keeps bar hours.
