Whaley House Museum

Historic House · San Diego, California

The first two-storey brick building in San Diego, built in 1857 by Thomas Whaley on the ground where a man called Yankee Jim Robinson had been hanged five years earlier. Over its working life it was a family home, a granary, a courthouse, a theatre and a general store — and the United States Department of Commerce once formally designated it a haunted house, which is why most people come.

2476 San Diego Avenue, San Diego, California, 92110, United States

Daily, typically 10 AM - 5 PM with later evening tours. Longer hours in summer.
