Willamette National Forest

National Forest · Springfield, Oregon

Nearly 1.7 million acres along the western slope of the Cascades between Mount Jefferson and the Calapooya divide, with over 380,000 acres of wilderness and seven major peaks. This is the wet side - Douglas fir, western hemlock and some of the last accessible old growth in the state - and it holds the McKenzie River, whose water runs so clear over blue volcanic rock that the Tamolitch pool looks artificially coloured. Proxy Falls, Sahalie and Koosah, and a string of hot springs sit along its highways.

3106 Pierce Parkway, Springfield, Oregon, 97477, United States
