Wind Creek State Park

A camping park on Lake Martin in east central Alabama, and one of the largest state-operated campgrounds in the United States — several hundred sites, a great many of them on the water. That is genuinely the point of it: this is not a scenic park with camping attached but a campground with a lake, a marina, a beach and a mountain bike network around it. Lake Martin itself is a forty-thousand-acre reservoir with a long shoreline and a serious summer boating culture.

Open daily year round for a small day-use fee, with the campground open to registered guests around the clock. The marina, beach and concessions are seasonal. Mountain bike trails close after heavy rain.
