Woodall Mountain

Mountain Peak · Iuka, Mississippi

The highest point in Mississippi, at 806 feet, on a wooded rise in Tishomingo County a few miles south of Iuka. A gravel road runs to the top, where there are radio masts, a survey marker and a sign. It is a destination almost entirely for highpointers — people working through the highest point of all fifty states — and it is honest to say that the appeal is the fact rather than the view. Confederate artillery is generally held to have been positioned on this hill during the Battle of Iuka in September 1862.

Access has customarily been permitted; respect any signage on the day.
