Wynn Las Vegas

Casino Resort On The Las Vegas Strip Wynn (2005) And Encore (2008), Built By Steve Wynn · Las Vegas, Nevada

Wynn Las Vegas and its sister tower Encore form one luxury resort on the north half of the Las Vegas Strip, built by casino developer Steve Wynn on the site of the old Desert Inn. Wynn opened in 2005 and Encore in 2008: two curved, bronze-tinted glass towers joined by a shopping esplanade, with casinos, a golf course, a theater, nightclubs, a seasonal beach club and some of the most expensive restaurants and shops in the city. Unlike Bellagio, Wynn turns its back on the Strip. Its signature Lake of Dreams, a lake and waterfall with an after-dark light show, is hidden behind a man-made mountain and can be seen only from inside, from a handful of restaurants and bars. What anyone can enjoy for free is the resort itself: the flower-filled atrium and its changing floral sculptures, the red and floral interiors, the gardens and the long walk through the shops. It is worth an hour or two for the design and the flowers, and a whole evening if you want a show, a serious dinner or a big-name nightclub.

NO OPENING TIME HERE WAS CHECKED. The typical pattern: the casinos, the atrium and the Esplanade are open 24 hours every day, shops keep roughly 10 am to 10 or 11 pm, restaurants mostly serve dinner from about 5 to 10 or 11 pm with some closing one or two nights a week, and the Lake of Dreams shows run only after dark. XS opens late on its club nights only, and Encore Beach Club is seasonal, roughly spring to early autumn. The traps that ruin a day are looking for the lake show from the Strip or in daylight, planning a pool day at Encore Beach Club in winter, arriving at XS underdressed after midnight, walking up to a fine-dining room on a Saturday night without a booking, and walking to the mid-Strip in summer heat. Confirm current times before relying on them.
