Yahoo Falls
Waterfall · Whitley City, Kentucky
The tallest waterfall in Kentucky at around 113 feet, dropping over a sandstone rock house in the Big South Fork country of McCreary County, deep in the Daniel Boone National Forest. A short loop trail with stairs and a swinging bridge takes you behind the fall and into the shelter beneath it, which is the reason to come — you stand in a dry amphitheatre of rock with the water falling past the opening. It runs hard in spring and is frequently a trickle by August.

Open daily, dawn to dusk, free, with no gate and no facilities. The waterfall is SEASONAL — it runs hard in spring and after heavy rain and is frequently dry by late summer. The unpaved forest access road deteriorates after rain and can be difficult in winter.
