Zoo Atlanta

Zoo · Atlanta, Georgia

One of the oldest continuously operating zoos in the United States, on the edge of Grant Park since 1889, and for nearly three decades one of only a handful of American zoos to hold giant pandas — a programme that ended when the last of them returned to China in 2024. What it is now best known for is primates: it keeps one of the largest gorilla populations in North America, in a set of forested habitats built in the 1980s that changed how American zoos house great apes.
